Shinhan SCOOL started as an internal training tool, but participation was driven mostly by compliance employees completed modules because they had to, not because they wanted to. In 2020, we set out to change that. Our goal is to make learning feel as natural and rewarding as using a favorite app, while still meeting strict corporate requirements.

The redesign introduced clear navigation, bite-sized content flows, and visual patterns familiar from everyday consumer apps. The shift wasnt just in the interface we built engagement loops that rewarded progress, enabled peer recognition, and encouraged repeat visits.

The impact went beyond Shinhan Bank. The new SCOOL became a benchmark for mobile learning in Koreas financial sector, inspiring adoption by other companies within the Shinhan Financial Group and influencing training strategies across the industry.

Results

Expanded nationwide and adopted by multiple companies across the Shinhan Financial Group

Transformed participation from compliance-driven to voluntary, self-motivated learning
