SCOOL Check is Shinhan Bank’s self-assessment and competency evaluation tool, created as a strategic extension of SCOOL, the mobile learning platform that transformed corporate training across the organization.
The goal was simple but high-stakes: make mandatory skill evaluations feel motivating, approachable, and worth returning to.
By blending familiar Korean app interaction patterns, interactive coding practice, and clear progress visualizations, SCOOL Check gave employees a transparent, empowering view of their capabilities. What had once been a compliance exercise became a framework employees trusted — and one that other organizations within Shinhan Financial Group quickly adopted.
Results —
Shifted competency evaluations from a compliance requirement to an engaging, repeat-use tool
Established a new standard for digital skill measurement in Korea’s financial industry
Inspired adoption by multiple organizations within Shinhan Financial Group and beyond
Proved that even competency evaluations could be something employees look forward to.
